Graces obtained through
St.Joseph Moscati’s intercession

Simona Balido

I’m Simona Balido’s mother, a girl of about 19 years old. With great pleasure I give my evidence not only to glorify our Lord, His great love unable to abandon those who place their trust in Him, but also for a dutiful gratitude to St. Joseph Moscati, whose friendship helped me to overcome some difficult moments. In November 1998, my daughter Simona, who had already undergone a difficult intestine operation when she was a child, was diagnosed a thyroid adenoma (Plummer’s disease). In May 1999 she was operated. In the meantime she was affected by bad renal colic, too. Last February, a calculus of about 13 mm stopped in the ureter and the Doctors proposed a new operation, otherwise the health of the kidney could be in danger. So I thought of taking my daughter to "Gesù Nuovo" church with my husband.

Once in the church, since I didn’t know anyone and all the priests were engaged with confessions, I went to “Moscati Room” and asked the assistant if there was a priest willing to listen to me. She showed me a priest who was sitting in that room, looking as if he was waiting for me.
He was Father Samà. I told him all my difficulties. He encouraged me to trust in St. Joseph Moscati, who wouldn’t have disappointed my expectations. While Father Samà was speaking, I started feeling a sort of solace. I wasn’t alone anymore. Discouragement was leaving my soul and hope was coming into my heart.

Shortly afterwards, my daughter emptied her ureter and the kidney went down. A few months later the large calculus was expelled spontaneously, without operation. In the meantime, it also reduced by some millimetres.
However, the most beautiful grace I received was the conversion of my heart. I have understood that, when we insist on wanting God to do our will instead of His own, only desperation can exist.
I thank our Lord for having listened to my prayers by intercession of the Holy Doctor with this certainty lit in my heart: without faith and complete trust in God no life is possible for us! Franca Balido (Pianura, Napoli).

I was in the hospital for an important operation due to Crhon’s disease. Because of this disease, part of my intestine had been removed, since it was ulcerated.

A night, in the dark, I saw a doctor entering with a long white coat, polished shoes (a detail I could notice very well) and thin moustache. He looked at me and then went away. The following day, I told the woman lying in the bed next to me what I had seen. After having listened to me, she showed me a picture of St. Joseph Moscati, who I hadn’t known before. He was really the doctor I had seen.

Since then my recovery was very fast and now, thanks to St.Joseph Moscati, I’m completely recovered. Cinzia Caponnetto, Napoli.

When my child Crescenzio (now he is 20 months old) was born, doctors diagnosed him an interventricular defect, which, if not removed, would have required a heart operation. This diagnosis frightened me, so I decided to commit my child to St. Joseph Moscati’s immediately.

In August 1998, four months after his birth, the child got cyanotic and lost consciousness. Therefore, we got into the car and drove to "Santobono" hospital of Naples. There was a lot of traffic. We had great difficulties in proceeding, but suddenly a car came up by the side of our car, offering to help us to pass.
As if by magic, traffic disappeared and I, looking at that unknown man, became more and more convinced that he was quite like St. Joseph Moscati, but in my heart I was sure that it was just him.

When we arrived at the hospital, I intended to thank that man, but he had disappeared. I was bewildered, even because the doctors of the hospital, after having visited the child, said: “everything’s normal! Why did you take him to the hospital?"
My conviction that he was St. Joseph Moscati got stronger and I’m sure that he had hastened to recover my son. Thanks a lot! Please, always help my family! Loredana Laezza (Afragola, Napoli).

Five years ago, I experienced a state of depression. A friend of mine took me to "Gesù Nuovo" church, where, after having gone to confession, I stopped next to the statue of St. Joseph Moscati and asked him to recover me. In the meantime my depression had repercussions on my mother’s health, so that we had to send her to “Monaldi” hospital. The doctors verified that she was in a very bad state of health. Her heart and lungs seemed unable to take the strain! Moreover, blood pression was very high, for this reason the doctors gave up hope of saving her.

A night, while I was sleeping, I saw a light in the corridor. I thought that my son had the television on. On the contrary, that light got so strong that it lit up the whole room and in that light I saw a male figure with thin moustache and white clothes.
Frightened, I thought it was an Angel, but that man, without speaking, looked at me and made a hand gesture so as to say “don’t worry!”
The vision disappeared and since then – it was three a.m. – an enormous and indefinable peace entered in me.

The following day, I went to the hospital and the doctor said to me: “You may have a guardian angel, because your mother’s state has suddenly changed since three a.m. She will soon be recovered.”
I came back to "Gesù Nuovo", went to confession and the priest told me: "remember that St. Joseph Moscati has taken your whole family under his patronage".
May Jesus be praised and glorified! I thank St. Joseph Moscati, who intercedes for us and always protects us. Susy Bruno (Napoli).

Reverend Fathers of Gesù Nuovo, I’m a votary of St. Joseph Moscati, who helped me with particular benevolence. I have been operated for a head cancer three times, but nine days after the last operation I had to come back to the hospital in a very bad state of health, with a liquid coming from my backbone and from the wound in my head.

A friend of mine, Mrs Marisa Iervasi, who lives in Brooklyn (US), has prayed much for me. She is a great votary of the Holy Doctor and well known to Gesù Nuovo Editorial staff. Thanks to her prayers my state of health has improved considerably.

Mrs Maria Macaluso

Please, pray for my complete recovery at St. Joseph Moscati’s grave, also recommending him my husband, who is not so fine. As soon as possible, I’ll come to Gesù Nuovo Church to thank the Holy Doctor personally. Maria Macaluso (Brooklyn, U.S.A.).

It’s the second time I come from Sicily to thank St. Joseph Moscati. In 1977 I read his biography issued in instalments in the magazine “Oggi”. I turned to him for a grace immediately. After having received it, I came to "Gesù Nuovo" church, where I was welcomed by Father Carofalo.

In September 1999, I underwent an urgent brain operation for a tumour, so I begged the Holy Doctor with complete reliance. Two days after the operation, some respiration problems came up, so that the doctors feared for my life. However, St. Joseph Moscati saved my life again with general amazement. Twenty days later, my Doctor in charge, after having examined my magnetic resonance, said to me: "It isn’t easy to see such a successful operation."

Now I’m here at “Gesù Nuovo” church, in front of the Holy Doctor’s grave, to express him my feelings of gratitude. He is really a great Saint, deserving to be worshipped and loved! Every time I pray him, I’m moved and often cry for joy. Oscar D'Anneo (Alcamo, Trapani)
